Amazon Laying Off About 16,000 Corporate Workers in Latest Anti-bureaucracy Push

Amazon is laying off approximately 16,000 corporate workers in a bid to reduce bureaucracy, marking the second mass job cut since October, following a previous reduction of 14,000 employees. The layoffs, part of a strategy to streamline operations and invest in AI, will not establish a regular pattern of layoffs, according to company officials. Amazon’s corporate job cuts recently total about 30,000, representing roughly 10% of its corporate workforce. CEO Andy Jassy aims to create a more efficient corporate culture and reduce management layers.
